Welcome, Penn Vet Alumni!

Starting with the Class of 1887, more than 6,000 veterinarians have graduated from the Penn School of Veterinary Medicine. We also consider the hundreds of residents, interns, post-doctorates and fellows who have trained alongside VMDs as our alumni.

 Get Connected

Today, Penn Veterinary alumni are working across the nation and around the world to improve the health and welfare of animals and humans. We want to hear from you. We want to help connect you with each other, with your School and with current veterinary students as they embark on their journey.

  • Wishing all our Penn Veterinary Alumni the happiest of holidays! Enjoy time with family, friends and pets. Here is to a wonderful 2014!

  • Penn Veterinary MLK DAY OF SERVICE SEEKS ALUMNI VOLUNTEERS! Each year for the last four years, the School has run a small animal vaccination and wellness clinic as our contribution to the Martin Luther King Day of Service. This clinic provides examinations and vaccinations to dogs and cats whose owners would otherwise not be able to afford veterinary care for their pets. We have evaluated between 120 and 150 animals each year. In the past four years we have had a large number of students and alumni volunteer.

January 20th 2014: The day normally starts at 8-8.30am. A greeter meets clients (appointments are scheduled). Owners fill out a registration form and are taken to a room by volunteer students who evaluate the animals under alumni supervision. Vaccinations are given by students with alumni or faculty supervision. In past years we have seen 15-20 cases each hour between 9 am and 2pm. Lunch has been provided by the Development office in past years.

Please consider volunteering for the MLK Day of Service. It is a wonderful experience and the vast majority of animals are healthy. Please contact me ( dholt@vet.upenn.edu) to volunteer. Please copy Beatriz Blanco (bblanco@vet.upenn.edu ), this year's student coordinator.
